Modules

Core module

Principles of Social Care Law (30 credits)

This module will cover the core principles in social care law in the context of adults and children. Typical course content may cover aspects such as the law in relation to adults and children with needs for care and support, the rights of carers, safeguarding, challenging care decisions through judicial review, and the role of regulators.

You will have the opportunity to choose one of the following modules:

You will have the opportunity to choose two of the following modules:

LAW-40050 Best Interests Assessor (when available)

Dissertation

LAW-40086 Dissertation (60 credits)

Your dissertation module will be comprised of independent study and research, with additional support from your supervisor. You will also attend two days' of dissertation training at the university; one at the beginning of the academic year and one mid-way through. This training will prepare you for writing and planning your dissertation, whilst also giving you an opportunity to get feedback from your supervisors and fellow students on your proposal.
