About the Courses
Upon successful completion of this programme, you will acquire master's level knowledge that will equip you with the necessary skills to progress further in your career. Having specialised in cardio-respiratory physiotherapy, you will be equipped to apply these skills in the workplace and refine your area of expertise whilst having the opportunity to share your knowledge with colleagues and benefit the workplace environment and approach to physiotherapy practice.
Your cardio-respiratory learning will enable you to advise and assist patients with their treatment with a focus on their specific needs and intended care outcomes.

Research Methods in Health (15 credits)
Acute Respiratory Deterioration and Critical Care (15 credits)
Advanced Management of the Respiratory Complications of Neuromuscular Disorders (15 credits)
Behaviour Change for Health and Well-Being (15 credits)
Assessment and Measurement (15 credits) OR Evidence Based Practice (15 credits)
Dissertation (60 credits)
Optional Module
You will have the opportunity to choose three optional/elective modules (15 credits each)* Alternatively, you may wish to consider developing your knowledge and skills in leadership or education applied to the cardiorespiratory clinical setting.
Requirements
ACADEMIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants are required to have:
A first or second-class honours degree (2:1 or 2:2) in Physiotherapy
Please note: There may be specific requirements for particular modules such as:
Evidence of patient assessment and treatment
Written support from line manager
Named clinical mentor
Registration with professional governing body
Proof of up to date personal indemnity insurance
RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL)
There are opportunities for prior learning to be brought into this programme, where your learning aligns with the award title, such as:
Successful completion of credits at level 7 from other Higher Education Institutions (HEIs)
Completion of professional learning in the workplace
Attendance of non-credit bearing professional courses
Please note that level 7 learning following completion of professional learning in the workplace or attendance of non-credit bearing professional courses would need to be supported by a portfolio of evidence documenting how the learning has been and continues to be implemented in your practice.
Each application will need to be discussed on an individual basis and then reviewed by the university.
